About the Project

In early October 2005, the IOW hosted a visit from the three Norfolk artists and project managers. The artists spent time gathering resource material in order to gain an understanding of the distinctive natural landscapes, and cultural traditions of the Island. The IOW artists then had their own research trip to Bideford and beyond in North Devon and are now inspired and working on their artworks for the project. All nine artists (3 from each region) have spent time over the winter using their research to create exciting new interpretative works of art.

The new artworks created will be brought together into a high quality touring exhibition which will travel venues throughout each region April and Oct 2006. This exhibition will feature the artwork created by all 9 artists in response to the visual character and cultural traditions of each area.
